Hi there!
Thank you for popping in to learn more about dot and how it all began!
The Struggle is Real
Dining out with babies can be difficult. Babies fuss and cry. Diapers are filled and blow outs happen. Conversations get interrupted and time is often spent on entertaining Baby. My husband’s mom could turn a cloth napkin into multiple items for entertainment. I tried this with my own grandchildren but the best I could do was create a head scarf!
Can You Relate?
On a visit to Chicago we took our second grandchild, Noah, and his mom and dad out to a charming neighborhood restaurant. The server led us to a table for four carrying with her one of the wooden high chairs that were stacked in the corner. We sat down. Well… two of us sat. Our son held Noah while our daughter-in-law rummaged through her diaper bag to find a wipe to clean off the high chair and table. Quickly, we moved our menus, silverware, napkins, condiments and vase of flowers to the other half of the table that Noah couldn’t reach. Noah already had a very impressive wing span for a one year old. The table got even more crowded when the drinks and food came. We continued to struggle with the space at the table or lack there of.
When we returned to their home, we all looked online to purchase a tray that could attach to that type of high chair. We searched the web, sure that it existed… but it did not. We wanted one. We needed one. We couldn’t find one so we decided to create one! Thus began the journey to dot the original dine out tray.
Fast Forward
We now have nine grandchildren. Kersta, Noah, Theo and Elin grew out of high chairs while we were researching and creating. Axel, Hugo and Bjorn tested our multiple prototypes and Ava and Ike are using dot currently. If we are so blessed, our future grandchildren will as well.
So while we can’t stop your baby from fussing, crying or blowing out, we can help you give your baby a clean eating surface and safer space while dining out. And by doing this our hope from our family to yours is that you enjoy dining out with dot as much as we do.
Cheers!
